On Saturday, May 29, we worked with Rainbow Families Action to hold a press conference outside of the CIF State Track and Field Championships in Clovis, CA. The purpose of this press conference was to celebrate the athletic career, joy, and resilience of trans athlete AB Hernandez. As a coalition, we reached out to a number of political candidates, current elected officials, and community leaders for statements of support. These are the statements that were returned to us.

AB Hernandez is Surrounded by Love

This weekend is AB Hernandez' last track meet, because trans athletes aren't allowed to compete in collegiate sports in the United States. During the last couple years of her athletic career, she has maintained her dignity and joy against a massive wall of transphobic hatred, all the way up to Donald Trump and JK Rowling.
